Possible Live Screening – Newsies the Musical
On Sunday 19th February there will be a nationwide Live Screening of Newsies the Musical. I have asked the Oban Phoenix Cinema if they would consider showing it. They have said they can show it if we can get at least 50 people through the door. Therefore I am looking to see if there is enough interest to go ahead with this. Tickets would cost £12 each and I believe it’s a starting time of 6.30pm.
Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.” It won 2 tony awards and has just finished a US national tour.
