One Act Drama Festival Breaking News
On Tuesday 17th January at 7.30 Park School we would like as many people who can attend to come along where there will be a Mini Workshop developing theatre skills run by John. This looks like it will be a fun night.
Added to this there will be handouts of information about the plays for the Drama Festival – One to be directed by John and the Other by Willie (both plays assuming the availability of cast)
Handouts of audition material will certainly be handed out by John and possibly by Willie
On Thursday 19th 7.30 (Park School but location may change) there will be auditions certainly for John’s play – but find on out Tueday as to what is happening.
John is keeping the details of his play top secret at the moment but Steevie can confirm that it looks quite good (and quite funny)
More details will all be confirmed on Tuesday night
Willie has sent some information over regarding his play and it is below
‘A Real Dirwan’
Something completely different ! ‘A Real Dirwan’ is set in India after partition. Part comedy, part drama, it needs a cast of 6 males and 5 females. Although it takes place in a poor suburb, there can be wonderfully colourful costumes. The plot demands Indian accents but do not be deterred – help is at hand to prevent the conventional slide into Welsh ! This is an opportunity to take part in the premiere of a new play and to stretch the Thespian skills. The main characters are:-
Mrs Dalal – a middle-aged woman with aspiration to higher status.
Mrs Misra – a callous, selfish woman, also of middle age.
Boori Mal – an elderly, emaciated refugee from Bengal
Mr Chatterjee – A ‘Holy Man’ who pretend s to be profound.
Mr Dalal – A vain, impulsive dreamer.
Sanjee – an ‘Untouchable’ dressed in loin cloth and turban
Sharbat Khan – a Knife-grinder, a Pathan.
