Welcome to the "Letters" Page.

For Some Time now my "Aunt Jemima Baker" has been sending me correspondance concerning the pantomime.... She feels she should share her thoughts with the group.

Enjoy

Dear Stephen,

How is your pantomime coming along? 'Goldilocks and the three bears', isn't it?
Ours is nowhere, I'm afraid. Still, we're not doing it until the third week in February, so there's still time. I know! Third week in February!!! I ask you?
Our director, Tarquin, couldn't get a full week in the village hall before that. The Hall Committee (as it likes to call itself) has this rule that you can't make a booking until six months before the event is due to take place. How ridiculous is that?
So, on Monday 6th June, at 9.00am sharp, sharp mind you, Tarq's on the old blower to the Hall Secretary (his capitals, not mine), and he's put in a queue! Can you believe it?

"I'm sorry, our Hall Secretary is on another call at the moment. Your call is important to us. Please hold."

And then instead of Vivaldi's Four Seasons they put on a bit of Jack Dee's stand-up which they recorded on a Dictaphone when he was on at the 'Copa Cabana' in Weybridge in 1981. Well, it's funnier than Vivaldi, but you and I both know it's a flagrant breach of copywrite. We've got to be so careful down here. I don't suppose they bother with that sort of thing up there.
Anyway, same thing happened every Monday until as I say; we eventually got the third week in February.
You'd think they'd make an exception for the Drama Club. We are special after all.
Anyway, must sign off now. The cat's just eaten the budgie - again!!!

Good luck with the panto
